All In A Night's Work

Occasionally while I am working we will get news of an airplane crash.
Unfortunately, when a plane crashes it is typically fatal due to the laws of nature (gravity) and the general location of airplanes (way above the ground!).
The last couple of weeks there have been two accidents that have happened.
The good news is that there were no fatalities in either case. I am very excited about that part!
One just happened in Bolivia yesterday when a 727 landed short of the runway.
The pictures above were of the 727 airplane in Bolivia. The pictures below were from the second accident.
The other accident happened a week ago when a 777 landed short of the runway in England but was in the confines of the airport unlike the 727 above.
This was the very first accident of a 777.

Seeing incidents like this keep me focused and realizing that what I do when I help airlines repair airplanes has a definite impact on the safety of people.
That is why people rely on engineers for these types of jobs. We take our time, are interested in the smallest details and like to double and triple check our work.
Unfortunately, life is not perfect and accidents happen.

Give an engineer a hug today!
